Poor Gas Mileage

I am able to buy real dino fuel at a couple of stations here in KY. My MPG improves by at least 4 MPG when I get the real stuff in. Remember higher Octane will do nothing but pure gas does! Also I discovered that there was a warning on my electric shutoff valve NOT TO USE ETHENOL LACED FUELS THAT IT WOULD VOID THE WARRANTY AND MESS IT UP!.. These days whats a guy suppose to do? We cannot always find dino gas.

The EPA has seen to it that our gasoline is polluted with a non-combustable additive to the tune of 10% (this pollutant is called ethanol in some circles). It has way less energy (BTU) per gallon than real gasoline. The wikipedia experts on here can google and find out what the difference is, but it is substantial.

There is no possible way given the laws of physics that you are gonna get very good mileage with this crap.

Occasionally I drive thru OK and I can get real gas there. My Silverado purrs like a kitten on it (it is very noticeable) and my mileage goes WAY up.

So EPA lets do the math.....we have gasahol to reduce pollutants per gallon; but we have to burn more gallons to get to the same place.....so if we look at the bottom line, did we actually reduce emissions??

You be the judge

I could not have said this better. We in Virginia are fortunate that there are about 300 stations statewide that have non-ethanol gas. Check out this website for those in your state.

pure-gas.org Just click on your state and see what is available.

My Model A still gets 20+ highway MPG using California corn gas and California air. I wonder how it would do in Oklahoma?

Ha!! Will have too check the rear-view next time!

My Model A mentor Bob had to come home on the metallic magic carpet last weekend. He said he only called the auto club because he wanted to save his Model A's gas for later. So, he could have us all beat.
