poll - split early V8 1932 - 53 in 2 or 3 groups

It is not OURS to fix ... and we ARE guests here as Lee said so we get all of the enjoyment without the work.

So let's just enjoy the ride, shall we?

Thank you, Ryan ....

I'll just say that AFTER the little "tune-up" on a sister-site last year, I've totally given-up trying to figure-out how to navigate some of the mods, and the "better" layout. A whole bunch of user-friendly amenities were lost in the process. As a result, I've totally quit going to that site....BUMMER! I pray daily that THIS site remains as-is and doesn't get any updates....WONDERFUL, just as it is! Use a little wisdom and be very careful what you ask for.......ya might just get it. DD

Hey V8COOPMAN,
Well said and hits home with me particularly hard, as I was just getting used to and learning the 'done away with hamb'...when wam.. BETTER came along :) ! I'm close to you also in giving up on that layout..bummer. I can not even contact guys to buy something and have lost out on buying long sought after...several items ....because of process and NO PHONE numbers with add!
Most adds have no phone number, so computer neophytes (ME:p) cannot buy from guys.

So, I'm not against change. Change is NOT always for the better as some would have you believe.
Anyway, I'd like to hear evidence as to why THIS suggested change would be necessary ....and worth all the money/time/efforts that would be necessary to bring it about ? For instance, can anyone site a case where someone was refused help HERE, with a flathead inquiry ...because the flathead is a 50s model  I think not.

BTW...I also agree though that no one should violate Ryans' rules by disrespecting another member..new or not !!

For what its worth I'm on exactly the same page as V8Coopman. Since the HAMB changed I find that I just don't go there as much as I used to. It used to be a 50:50 split with HAMB and Barn. Now its 95:05 in favor of the barn. I'm just more comfortable here even though I support Ryan on both. I do like the way the HAMB has a listing for complete cars as opposed to mixing all the classifieds together like the Barn.

Seems to work OK for most who have replied to this thread.........we all learn from each other here and the SIMPLE format of the way it's set up...... "T"s, "A"s and "V8"s...why muddy the water ?!!??!?!?!?!????

No need to fix it, it's fine the way it is. I just hit the "New Posts" and read what interests me. I see a nice mix of Ford products. I'm about a 80/20 split between the Barn & HAMB. I prefer the format of the FB better, but really like the build threads on the HAMB.

I read allot of these and there is some Merritt to seperating it into groops. Unfortunately, this would prevent the knowladge of some of the members fron sharing. Although soneone restring an old Ford doesn't care about upgrading the car, others just might want to know how to improve, say the brakes. This forum has a vast wealth on knowledge that is available to all and if your not interested, just choose what your are. And everyone gets a piece of the pie.

I notice that NONE of the comments are from those owning 52-53's & they re-define "later" from my 52 - 54 to 48 - & my POINT was that the ginning in 52 there was little in common except flat heads with ANY years prior to 52. but, will check this site monthly now, instead of daily. Still have seen no posts of interest to 52 - 53's in the months I have belonged. Good site UNLESS your interest is 52 & 53.

On that rationale, then 49-51 should also be divided, as a 49 Ford has only the engine in common with earlier, sort of, as the 8BA engine is much different to the 59A And earlier. It has more in common with the 52-53.
Can you see why the "redefine later" happens?
I'd imagine the low number of post specifically for 52-53 are such due simply to the amount of 52-53 cars are out there.
I'm not bashing these year Ford's, I very, very much would love one, I think they are beautiful. It's simply a matter of numbers.
I feel a dedicated page/ forum/forum section for these cars would be a quiet place. You could start one, if you think it's needed. Your in the land of opportunity, go for it.
No need to ruckle up a thing that works very well as it is.
Good luck,
Martin.

"I notice that NONE of the comments are from those owning 52-53's"
How could you possibly determine this? An avatar picture and name does not necessarly define all the cars we may own.
I went back and read all of your previous posts, and noticed that many of your questions on '52-'53 were asked on other folks threads. This is considered hi jacking a post by some members here. If you have specific questions on your car, it's probably best to start your own thread asking those questions. Some of your '52-'53 questions were placed in the '54 & later forum. Also, there was a wanted ad with questions placed in the For Sale section where no one else but you can reply to your own Wanted & For Sale ads. These are just a few of the reasons why you may think or feel you are not getting replies to your posts.
Another forum that you might consider using is on the Early Ford V-8 Club website. However, they are also established as '32-'53 ('54 in Canada) and they would probably not respond that well on some of your planned conversions, such as going to a T5 transmission and front disc brakes.

So if you leave, that'll be one less 52-53 guy. How does that help you?

D Dawg. Why not start a '52 - '53 Social Group.[/QUOTE

Grandadeo,

Great suggestion.

Check under social groups for a new group entitled 49'-53' Flatheads.

Not sure how to attach pictures to postings yet in social groups.

JM 35 Sedan (John) makes some excellent observations. If those who wish to have a separate Forum would take just a few minutes to read the stickies, they would have a much more productive experience here.

As for those who consider these suggestions as bashing the suggester, I see no real bashing in this whole conversation. There does seem to be some butt hurt from guys who jump in wanting to "improve" things but who never turn a lick of work toward those goals themselves.
