Point Bounce!!?

Anyone know about this? Or, what causes it? Or, what the fix is? I use modern upper plate w/V8 points. Speaking from experience "do not buy cheap points"! NAPA Echlin brand cost more ($20) but you will see the difference!
ANSWER: point tension spring fatigue won't keep rubbing block on the cam, fix- replace points with quality points!
QUALITY? Points without soft plastic parts. Test with sharp pin, eg. maptack
Pin should not penetrate leaving mark!

The only time I ran into this is when the spring failed. It still had a little pressure on the cam, but it was very light. A mechanic can tell just by feeling e force.

There have a number of such complaints here lately. There must be some really bad points out there today. For points to bounce in such an engine as these is remarkable.

The NAPA higher quality points have worked well in the past.

I had a distributor on the machine , it was as removed from "running" engine, it showed point bounce at 1500 rpm, nothing seemed wrong, properly living it stopped the bounce

Every repro upper plate I tested had dwell variation because of poor manufacturing, the center hole is ground to size on originals, the GYP ones just a rough stamped hole with a loose fit

Lubing cured the point bounce, original points didn't bounce till about 5000 engine rpm on the dist machine

Yep, thats kinda my point. The quality really has to be poor for these points to bounce at such low speeds.
