Please no more american pickers show

Pawn Stars is a little more fun to watch. Ya have to laugh at Chummly and the Old Man it is more entertaining than A.P.

I ran across a guy from Vegas that knew the Old Man. Said that the Old Man was a hustler from the bad old days and he was pretty much the same in real life as he is on TV.

It seems like AP just picks numbers out of the air. When they say "I can get $XXX for this item" I would like see what they really get.

I've never trusted anyone who uses both of their hands to shake mine. That's a habit that both the fat one AND the skinny one have.

Howdy fellow AP fans and fellow A owners,

I have a friend who was featured on AP. The show is scripted and planned although the "stuff" and the "owners" are real. My friend didn't want to sell anything, he told them that before they drove in the driveway. He never spoke to the girl with the bad tattoos as the show indicated in their story line. They make up story lines to fit their needs. He has many cars in barns, older restorations and survivors, and yep.... all covered with dust. AP spent 8-10 hours filming & preparing for the 15 minutes viewed on TV. It is a lot of long hours and work. Mike and Frank ride in a nice RV.... not the little van. Again, more TV stuff.

AP sets up all the events in advance, and the prices and items are agreed upon before the offer and acceptance. They even tell the owner how to respond to their offers etc. Reality TV is for entertainment and selling advertisement slots.

The show is fun to watch because the collections are real and the collectors are interesting. Even with all the "fake" reality TV aspects of AP, my friend really enjoyed the experience. He said Mike was a real nice guy. He also made good money from the experience. AP is willing to over pay because they aren't using their money, it is corporate TV money.

I love watching the show even after learning the behind the scenes stuff. I even like Barrett Jackson, and my goodness isn't that hype and ego on steroids!!??

I'm ready for a break in the heat down here in Hot-lanta!

After reading this ad, all I can say is 'christalmighty' how about a little HELP with your grammar, spelling, punctuation....this thing causes pain to even try to read it.

If the guy that wrote that ignorant dribble is unemployed right now, good luck trying to sell yourself to an employer with that level of poor English. Your ignorance speaks volumes. I know that I would show you the door in less than 30 seconds.

Jeff, did you mean "drivel?":p

A friend and I were talking about"American Pickers" once and we both came up with the thought that the producers didn't like guns. "Frank and Mike" never dirty their hands with Hoppes #9 , even a box of old ammo now and then. They must run across them now and then! But no! The producers want to maintain the fiction that they live in a gun free world. And what's with that dancing and singing ad that they made for the show? Stupidest thing I ever saw! That'll make people watch! And you're right on about the prices. Nobody but nobody pays that kind of money for old oil cans!
Terry

Amen brudder. I used to watch the show just to see the items they put on TV. Got old pretty fast with the emphasis on the alleged dollars they were 'making'. Yawn. Haven't watched in ages.

this poorly-written description is trying to make some rookie buyer think it has been sitting for 70 years.
to sell that particular bottle of snake oil, they should have removed the 1976 license plate.

where's the pictures of the engine?

i was thinking we should flood the listing with lowball offers say around $3500.show them what its worth. im going to

Shucks you guys sure pop my bubble. I was going to bid 26000.00 grand just to scare ever body else off. The dust is what got me if its got dust on it it must be a real real nice car. I thought the right fender was just bad shot. :) :)

The term "picking" is overplayed from the get go and the *** clowns on American Pickers aren't doing anything different than us old Ford people have done for years.

I think the whole show is pure hokum and will not watch it, aside from the couple of episodes I watched in order to get an opinion on the show.

At least they don't show what Frank & Mike do after hours....... that's a good thing.

Hope the guy got free listing fee. Where do people come up with these prices. Goes to show you what I have said for years. I'd rather deal the an antique dealer who knows what he's talking about than a flea market vendor who thinks everything he has is gold.

I have only been able to tolerate watching AP a couple of times. I don't like the whole idea of it, going around making low ball offers on everything. Pawn Stars I don't mind so much because the sellers are there to flog the item for whatever they can get because they want to get rid of it.
There used to be a local show here filmed in Vancouver, called Meet The Collectors, and it was nice because they just went around filming people and their collections, and pulling numbers out of the air wasn't part of it at all.

I watched an episode the other night
they jut "happened to walk out in the back and under this green debris there was a beautiful Ford sign,he brushed off the phoney green grass and picked the sign up from where it had laid for decades, and LO the grass was green and bent under the sign
looks like they put it there minutes before

Just noticed that a Photobucket link with about 45 more pictures has been added to the eBay listing. I don't think they do anything but confirm everyone's initial impressions.

AP is, like all other TV shows, entertainment. I agree that picked prices and what they "think" it's worth are two different things, especially if the "buyer" watched that episode. JMO

It's a current trend, American Pickers, Storage Wars, and Pawn Stars, with the economy in the toilet they are in a way helping people find out they may have things of value stashed away somewere. I'd love to find an idiot with money to make an offer on the LP records and books I have around here, level pickup load for $200. and I'd be thrilled.

if this shows angers you guys...stay away from Canadian Pickers.. booooorrrrring

It doesn't anger me at all, I usually watch it. I really enjoyed seeing the Cushman pacemaker scooter on last nights episode. I remember looking at one like it in the showroom back in 61. I ended up buying the highlander model because it was less expensive. I had a part time job at a grocery store, after school and on saturdays and didn't have a lot of money. There is really not that many good shows on TV. I like some of the reality shows like ax men, swamp people, pawn stars and a favorite was the Boyd Codington hot rod show. The one that I refuse to watch is American chopper, can't stand the old dad!!!!!
