Hi Gents,
I bought a complete drive train gasket set, engine, trany and diff. Could anyone please help ID these two sets of seals? The smaller ones are leather and about 15mm inner and the larger two are cork and about 35mm inner.
Regards
Chris

I work nights so I have my lap top set up on the network and look here in between problems. It often takes me 7 hours to get through the days postings. The biggest problem for me is that the network firewall will not allow access to file sharing sites so a lot of pictures I cannot see.

Yes Mike, they are soft leather. My engine is at the engineering works and I need to deliver the gasket set today but I want to ensure that I give them the engine gaskets and only the engine ones. In the mean time I am busy doing a ****** tower overhaul as well as a rear end overhaul myself. It is therfor not so easy to know who is who amongst the gaskets.
Cheers, have good day.

Hi Ed,
No not reat axle ones.
My rear axle is also in pieces and I checked. The smallones are 16mm and the axle is 29 mm.
Thanks anyway.

I was thinking the same as Ed. Check to see if they fit the recess in the rear brake hubs. When you say 29 mm, you must be measuring the axle diameter and not the thread where the seals fit for the outer ends of the axles.

OK Ed and Tom,
I see what you mean.
I am also doing a brake job on my Chevy which has a felt washer/seal which sits on the axle, inboard of the hub, between the hub and the backplate. Hence my confusion.
However, on the Model A the leather washer should be on the axle thread, between the hub and the washer and nut. I was under the impression that this is supposed to be a fiber of washer.
TKS Gents, I'll have another look.
Regards
Chris

Actually I guess you are right that it is a fiber washer. Seems I saw leather used there once also.
I can't see felt doing much good, but those look the right size for the axle.
