Model? An h.p....old man says its 100hp ...which means r series i believe...please help...with real info .
Thanks Derek

Pictures are sometimes worth a thousand words. But from the only identifying feature that you mention (8BA) says that it could be a '49--'51 car engine.

Thank you very much...i will try an attach photo now...are there any internal numbers to help possibly?

Except for the paint, looks like my 50' 8BA. 239ci., 100hp. I do not know of any ID#s to be found inside. Sure looks nice though.

Yes...the oldtimer told me that exactly...paint was supposed to red i think...im making a running motor stand as we speak.lol.cant wait to hear her rumble...you can still see the crossssweirls in cyclinders...no ridge...definitely complete rebuild...valves..cam bearingd whole nine yards....im going to build mu own intake manifold once i hear it run as is...extremely excited...thanks again for help...

You may or may not have a date code stamped on the rear passenger side intake manifold mounting

Thanks 51 Merc-ct..I just saved and printed that cool chart...
Thanks a bunch
Randy

Everdently you had a head off to see the crosshatch on the cyl. Did you measure the stroke? If it 3-3/4 it's a Ford. If it's 4in. it's a Merc. Those no. stamped on the front don't mean anything to us, only the guy who stamped them. If you deciver those no. on the top it will only tell you when the engine was made at the factory. Walt
