Need help!!!!

I have a 62' lincoln continental. The radiator has a leak so I took it to the local radiator shop to get repaired since it was an old metal type. Come to find out that they said it was rotten inside? And couldn't get repaired, so I called all the local auto parts ( car quest, advanced auto parts, Auto Zone, and ford dealer) they all said that there system did not have anything on this car??? So I am wondering if there is some one out there that has already been through this that could help out in locating a new radiator, Or even one that fits off of another vehicle... You get the point! I need this old beauty back on the road...

Thank you,
Carlos

This shop is know to do this type of work (Arlington Armature)

But this is why I posted I needed some one real experience so I will contact your shop.

Thank you,

any GOOD radiator shop should be able to put your tanks on a new core, if the tanks are good. It won't be cheap new, core for my 51 Merc. was $450

I'd call US Radiator. Not cheap, but really fine quality. They don't list the Lincoln, but they list Kaiser-Frasier, so they can probably do one. I've had one of their's for my 'bird. I leaned to drive in a 62 Connie.

I used them back in the late 80's for a couple Cadillacs I had then and they were actually less expensive than anyone else in the area. They must have moved since then as they were located in L.A. on Alameda (I think) back then.

I called around and a re- core will run me $400- $500. So I like to research and found out that the 1964-1966 t-bird uses the same radiator, they sell lots of all aluminum welded ones on eBay. They only run $200.00 a great deal considering what re-cores run.

Thanks to all of you for your the great leads!
LETS KEEP THESE DINOSAURS ON THE ROAD!

I will probably take a lot of flack for saying this, but I do not think that Aluminum radiators are better or sometimes even as good as a copper radiator. that being said I will say that it will probably do the job just fine if it is matched to the eng/vehicle combination.

These guys are good, been around for a while and they always have old Fords outside the shop.

Concerning aluminum radiators I must agree with Alaska Jim. About 7 years ago I needed a radiator for my 47 Merc, bored/stroked/9 to1 compression, auto trans and A/C. I called around to some of the name brand aluminum radiator companies and got the same answers, "aluminum will displace heat better than copper, but.... no guarantee that our's will cool your engine". I then called Walker Radiator Co., I don't recall who I talked too, but the guy explained to me why copper cools better and guaranteed, in writing, that his radiator would cool my engine properly or he'd buy it back. With an offer like that, how I could I lose?. I bought it, installed it and 14000 miles later it still cools even on 100 degree days with the A/C running.
I don't work for Walker or have I ever been affiliated with them, but I highly recommend their products. Since they have been around since the early 30's, they have built radiators for just about everything. It might be worthwhile to give them a call

Thanks for the advise guys!

Need help on another issue I'll post it in the forum but thought I'd ask? I can't shift the gears on the column it's not moving up nor down, so I'm not sure how to fix this issue??

Thanks in advance,

I can't remember seeing or hearing of copper radiators. Brass and aluminum yes, but never saw a copper one. Maybe on very old cars from the 20's or earlier ?

Aluminum radiators DO work better not necessarily due to the design of the radiator but actually due to the characteristics of the aluminum atom. Aluminum is a terrible absorber of heat, meaning it will not get as hot. This is the same reason you can put aluminum foil in the over for a long time and still take it out bare handed. That being said, I do appreciate the authenticity that comes with a non-aluminum radiator but these days aluminums are cheaper and work better. I would definitely go with an aluminum in this case especially it being a continental which are said to be a pain in the *** to work on and find parts for.

my mistake ,I should have said copper core with brass tanks, and I said most would probably not agree with me. it is just my opinion, and everyone has one. mine may not be the correct one.
