Plasti Dip used on the Model A

I've had this can of Plasti Dip for several years and finally opened it the other day to dip some pliers that I bought at Fleet Farm for $1 each. I gave my pliers 5 coats and thye came out very nice. You can also buy this dip in black and I was thinking it would probably work great to coat roofing nail that hold the gutters on, to keep water from seeping through the nail holes. It might also work good where metal meets wood to keep squeaks away, and seal some cracks to keep out water. It seems the black would be about the same stuff as Liquid Tape, but this is 3 or 4 times cheaper per ounce.:)

I had an old pair of pliers and used Plasti Dip on the handles, about five coats and they really turned out pretty nice. Home Depot quit selling this product so I ordered a can of black at Napa Auto parts. It has a lot of uses around the garage. I think using Plasti Dip on the roofing nails would be a good idea.

Yes, instead of the rubber tips they sell I used the black to coat mine. I find it quite a useful product. Tends to dry out after it's opened however.

Wonder if it would work well for hood latches? It might not chip & rust like paint does. Bill W.

I put some on the hood latches and it seems to work a lot better than those little booties. its pretty good stuff with a lot of uses.

I'll bet it would work good to coat the insides of water holes in the head gaskets, to prevent coolant seeps to the gasket edge.

I dipped the A size end on my star lug wrench to use on wheel nuts, stuffed the socket with newspaper to keep it out of the socket. Razor knife to trim when dry. Red is easy to spot for the A size. To keep the wrench from bottoming out and scratching the wheel I cut 2-3 layers of cardboard to fit so the socket will bottom on the nut not the wheel.

I just found another good use for the Plasti Dip. My battery charger clamps were just bare metal and rusty, so I sandblasted them and coated them with red and black Plasti Dip. This way they are easier to identify, they won't corrode, and they won't short when they touch each other. This would be good to do to my jumper wires also, as many of them don't have covers over the aligator clips.

This is a good size charger to use with the Caswell copy cad plating kit, which I've used to do several small Model A parts. I did my cutout cover about 10 years ago, and it still looks fine.

The roof on my T huckster is canvas with the spry on type Plasti Dip. It's time for a re-coat as it has dried out. It's been on it for about 5 years. I think it took two cans. Got it from NAPA.

I have used this to coat a broken piece of a Model A front spring. I use this coated broken spring as a tire iron so I don't chip or scratch the wheels.
