1912 ford model t going to buy 4 new aluminum pistons. My question is what is the preferred clearance from the bore to the piston? I have seen all sorts of numbers and just looking for additional information.

The metal in the early blocks is not as strong as later ones. When you put the head back on, it has been suggested to keep the torque down around 45. If you just use the Ford spark plug/head wrench without over doing it you should be ok. The threads in the block pull easy if over torqued with the early blocks.

I follow the recommendation of the piston supplier then add .0005 to .001 just to be safe
if your going to run it hard. (we never think we are going to but do)
If you run them to tight they will gall. No water jackets down the cylinder.
