pinto head on a model T?

I was looking thru these rules for this speedster race and under there rules for cylinderheads it states that any period correct or aftermarket look alike is allowed. But your not allowed to run a modern head such as a pinto OHV head. I was wanting to now if anyone had ever heard of doing this? If so what size head is used the 1.6L or the 2.0L? Also is there any modification that has to be done to ethier the head or the block?

As always thanks
Nate

Evan Cork in our Indy club owns one of these engines with the overhead cylinder head on it the ( some else built it) The head was cut in two and welded up with a machined adapter plate.
Rumor is they can make 100 hp??????
I would like to see that one for sure......
I thiught his was a 2300 head but could be the 2000..............

i can't give you any specifics on it but a friend put a pinto head on a T engine by making an "adapter". it's a big chunk of aluminum about an inch thick that has the T cylinder configuration on one surface and pinto on the other. the material between the two surfaces was removed to connect the two configurations, appropriate holes drilled and the head mounted. he used to (15-20 years ago) race the engine in a T pu, but i haven't seen it for a few years. i'll ask him about it the next time i see him.

thanks atch i would appreciate any info on it. i looked at a pinto head gasket & a T head gasket and they look really similiar.

If running a 2.0L or 2.3L head, a belt and toothed pulley set-up would have to be incorporated in order to drive the overhead cam. The 1.6L engine (also used in Formula Ford racing) uses pushrods to actuate the valves through adjustable rockers. I would think the valves and ports are a tad small, but then again the T is not designed to "rev" too much.
