pin striping

i've read that some A model's came with pinstriping the same color as the wheels were painted, if this is true, what color should the pinstripe's on a maroon/black fender "A" model with black wheel's be?....Black?.
or what color pinstriping would be correct for a maroon/black "A" with black wheels. Thanks.

If I were you, I would check the MAFCA Paint and Finish Guidelines. It states what pinstripe colors were used for all the various color schemes. I suspect there was a lot of time spent in developing the guidelines. I suppose that maybe there were some deviations in striping, but I would think they were extremely rare.

Technically, it was the other way around. Wheels were painted the same color as the stripe as all cars came with the stripe and black wheels (except special orders).

Louis,

Give me the detail on your car and I will check the guide, (year, body type) From your email I will assume Maroon & black are the only colors on your car) provide other detail if applicable, (upper body color, lower body color, reveals, belt moulding, etc)

Striping is described in Area 14 of the Standards and the colors are listed by year, body style, and body color. Using a '30 Deluxe Coupe as an example, if it was all black and built before October of 1930, the stripe would be Vermilion. An October or later built car would have an Apple Green stripe. If the lower body was Ford Maroon, no matter when it was built, would have a Vermilion strip. Gar Williams

Louis,

According to the MAFCA Paint & Finish Guide your car was painted with 1930 45B Deluxe Coupe colors and the pinstripe is Vermilion red as several others have noted.

Louis, nice looking coupe!

Good looking coupe. You could also leave off the pinstripe. Your car looks great the way it is. That's just my opinion.

I have pinstriping for over 50 years and if someone brought your car to me just the way itis and wanted it striped, but not for judging, I would use "One Shot Lettering Enamel Fire Red".

I just striped my own and it has black fenders and a brown body. I bought it this color and it had 6 powder coated rims (2 sidemounts) and to match the wheels, I used the same color (Fire Red) almost a perfect m

When some wants the "perfect color match" I have them bring me the color they want. Saves a lot of uneasy feelings after I get through.

good luck on a great looking coupe...................
