Pictures of My Modifications

These mod's were made,in the interest of reliving my youth. Except for one hole in the dash,no original Ford parts were altered. The car I had in 1961,came with push button, relay start, therefore the nessary hole in the dash rail. It is now running the way I remember it. More power, smoother acceleration, and less complicated to drive. I want to thank everyone on the forum for all the help I have received This summer, and last.

I also admire your work; however agree about the down the road problems you may experience with the nice looking copper fuel lines. I know how easier it is to use copper tubing, but that may be taking a potential short cut you may be sorry you used. You should change those over to steel to rest assured you won't be using your fire extinguisher. Don't ask how I know. :( Anyone need any VW slightly smoked engine parts? CC

Looks like somebody went shopping at the after market... but seriously how does that set up run? I want to do something different on my tribute truck and was considering a stromberg downdraft but don't know if my tired old engine will take it.

Nice work . I like the timing mark addition . Where did you get it ? I need to put one on my engine .

Looks nice but if you break down on a tour, nobody will be able to help you fix it. Carry extras of all those modified parts, cause no one else will have them.

Most of the parts are swap meet,or E-bay finds. I had copper lines on my first "A" for years. It would be no problem for me to make them from steel,as that was my job at Jeep engineering, making prototype brake and fuel lines. The timing pointer I got off of E-Bay. I did not like the one I got from Mac's. I don't think I will be going on any tours with a club,as I am too busy driving to cruise nights 4 days a week. Its nice to have throttle responce at all speeds. I can accelerate while climbing hills.

I personally dont have anything against after market if that is what you choose. A lot of us would be parked otherwise.

Nice setup. Enjoy!

Looked on e-bay no find . Anyone else know where I can get this timing pointer that does not require taking the front motor mount bolt out ?
Thanks

Niiice.

I'm on the anti-copper bandwagon too BUT not becuase it doesnt look nice. Actually, the only tube I would do different is the one from the pump (oh wait, I guess that's a regulator) to the carb. Vibration and relative movement will probably kill that tube quickly. Use something flexible. I dunno, maybe you did behind the carb where we can't see?

what is that oil filter attachment?

I'm curious why there would be a problem with copper tubing and gasoline? Its used all the time with home heating oil and flare connections, why not gasoline?

Perhaps due to problems with vibration or ethanol?

WOW, AC on a model "A". I see why you added the speed parts. I played with those Holly Webbers in the 70's on VW's. They ran great on the street, but not so well off road. The float bowl is open to the venturis, hit a few whoop de doo's,and it splashes fuel down the throat, flooding the engine. I ran gravity feed to my 97's in the 60's and had no problems, because I never went up any hills. Now I live out in the country with lots of hills, that is why I had to add a fuel pump. I am not sure if anyone noticed the Simmons High Speed head. That came with the car,and I never heard of it before.
