Go to For Sale at the Swap Meet and search for "Daisy Mae" in Late V8.

Meant to put it in Early V8, so I just put it there, too.

Richard, You're dropping a lot of names in that ad, I hope those guys approved the use of their names to sell your car. ...And, definitely against the rules of this forum to promote your For Sale ad. Are you too good to follow the rules?

Tell me how to delete my ad and my post and I'll start over.

These are the rules I followed.

Good on ya, Mike. Thanks. Ol' Ron wants me to write a book about all we did and all we learned and achieved... like 22 mpg in a 3300 lb car with a 276, an L100 cam, and a big four-barrel.

The journey has been an amazing one, and it took a lot of heart wrenching to talk myself into letting her go. But it's the only way I can start another project.

Ford38v8, Richard has done more to help guys out than you ever dreamed of. Your responses are generally condescending and down right mean. This one "Are you too good to follow the rules? " was totally Unnecessary. It made me sick!

Richard, Needless to say, I was shocked to see that you are selling the car. Not to stir the pot but, I agree with GoCatGo... I enjoyed your postings and findings and wish you luck on the sale, and on your next project.

Richard, My apologies to you for slamming your use of this Forum to promote your ad in the Swap Meet. I was under the impression that this was not permitted, but I now find no such rule. I don't know you, nor was I aware of the joint effort in your build, and should not have posted under my false assumptions. I wish you well in the sale of your Daisy Mae, and hope it goes to an appreciative home.

My apologies also to others who found my post to be offensive. I do tend to jump in over my head at times, my only defense being that my words at those times are honestly felt. To GoCatGo in particular, I hear you loud and clear, I appreciate your constructive criticism, and will endeavor to clean up my act.

Richard,
That 22 mpg, is that highway, town or an average of both?
Many thanks,
I love your car, and love reading about your testing and results.
Shame it's gotta go, but needs must and all that.
What's the project your planning?
Martin.

Back a few years ago, I went to Florida to visit Richard and David Generous. I had a chance to see the road rig in operation. Seeing 16:1 on the AF meter and driving it. Hard to describe the amelioration this car has, and if you just puts along it gets great mileage.
Now this sounds like a sales pitch and in away it is, but this is one special car and I'm sorry to see it go. I'm into engine manage systems now and nothing to test it on.

Ford38v8. I accept your gracious apology and you have earned my respect through it. I don't post much but have been a member since the "Shelly days". I only know Richard from this forum, but have always been impressed with his input. Such a contributor does not deserve to be publicly berated. Thanks...."we're good".

It takes a big man.

It was both. I laid out a 50-mile course that began at pump #2 of my neighborhood gas station and was 2/3 "around town" driving and 1/3 interstate 70 mph driving. I filled the tank until I could see gas in the filler neck, then hit the road.

The course also ended back at pump #2 where I topped off the tank the same way, with gas visible in the filler neck as before. With the odometer reading and the amount of gas needed to top off, I calculated the fuel consumption.

Prior to the mileage run, the local police in my small town volunteered to help me calibrate my odometer; with the T5 installed I was guessing at the correct (closest) speedometer drive gear, and I was close as you can see. The nice young officer had me make two runs at each speed and he used his calibrated radar gun.

God bless small towns! Try that in Los Angeles!

Daisy Mae was always a test bed for our ideas, and now's she done... taken about as far as I want to. Her performance is really amazing.

There's a hill nearby that's about 20-25° and about 1/4 mile from bottom to top. Daisy Mae, at about 3300 lb, routinely climbs it in 5th gear, .72 overdrive, at 1300 rpm with no chugging or laboring. In fact, I can accelerate up that hill if I want to. That's some torque!

What's the project your planning?
I need a convertible while I can still enjoy it. First choice -- a '56-'60 Corvette (1st choice is a '57). After that, a '56 Ford or T-Bird. Then come '55-'57 Chevys. Whichever one shows up in my laughable budget.
