Pickup spare mount brace

Some time ago someone gave dimensions of the pickup spare tire mount brace that helps to stabilize the spare . I think it may have been Lawson, but I am not sure. Does anyone have the dimensions of this brace so that I can fabricate one for my 39 pickup? Thanks.
 
By brace, do you mean the mount off the bed or the running board? Or do you mean the brace that holds the hub cap on?

He must be talking about the strap that holds the hub cap on. That has nothing to do with stabilizing the whole spare tire mount.
 
I mean the bracket that goes from the bolt that goes straight into the bed side to the bed side at about a 30 or 45 degree angle. It helps to stabilize the mount from rocking.
 
While I have seen such a bracket, and I have one on my 35 pickup, I have not been able to document that as being original equipment or even a Ford approved accessory. I'll try to send you a photo, or post it here if I can remember how to do it. lol
 
HEY V12Bill I need one of those too ! seems to me I remember sombody on here needed this same part and another member fabricated it up for him .. Lawson ? maybe? . I have a "dog-dish" cover ,but it is not the pretty crome one with the Ford logo on it ,,its just plain and hinges closed with a little friction clip on the bottom. I think I have everything except that part . Thanks Gary U for the photos

That is exactly what I need! You showed a measurement of the thickness of the brace, but not of the length. Could you post the length center to center of the holes and also the overall length. I think that with those measurements I might be able to make up a brace for my PU.

Length of main(longest section)is 5".At either end add 1&1/4 inches extra for total of 7&1/2 inches total.Will post some pics.Also one end is flat while rest is u-shaped when viewed from end,if that makes sense.
 
Holes at either end are in center of bent portion,at flat side hole is 3/8".At other side hole is 1/2".Hope this helps more than it confuses.
