Pic of Pieces

When I got my '30 Tudor a couple of months ago, it came with quite a few spare parts. I found a picture of what we loaded up on one of two trips. The previous owner had collected parts for the car since the mid 80's. I pulled a 6.5 X 12 ft trailer with my F150, and my son in law brought my 5 X 8 trailer with my Ranger to haul stuff off on. I filled the back of both of my trucks and trailers on the first trip. The second trip only required my F150 and trailer.

I was very pleased with the extra goodies. He had enough for at least one more car, and most of what was required for a second one, except for bodies. His plans were to build a chassis and cowl and put a woody body on it for a second vehicle.

I don't know if that's in the works for me right now. My first priority is to get the '30 in tip top shape. After that, who knows?

5 engines, 7 complete transmissions, flywheels, clutches, 21 wheels, couple of dozen or more carbs and distributors, many many starters and generators, water pumps, headlights, a couple of frames, 3 gas tanks, a cowl, bunches of brake drums and backing plates, a complete front and rear axle, and 100's of small pieces.

Some of this stuff I still haven't made a final determination of what it is.

I've had several non Model A owners to ask if I was going to sell it, but since we have a '30 and a '31 in the family, I'm a little slow to pull the trigger on selling some of it yet. I would like to go through and clean it all up, but that might have to wait until after I retire. It would takes months.

As we all know, most of the stuff is relatively cheap right now. There are some items that would bring good money, but there is only one or two of each, and I hesitate to sell them. But if anyone needs a carb or distributor core, I can probably hook you up :) .

Most of my friends think I have a gold mine. But, when I look at the prices that most of this brings, especially on such sites as e-bay, the parts are almost worth more as spares.

It is handy for a new A owner like myself to be able to ramble in a pile and take a spare part to pieces before tearing into one that is being used on the vehicle. If a spring is going to fly out of something, I would much rather it be from a spare part, than the one on the car.
