Photo Shifter Knob

I recently had a friend show me his father's old Shifter knob that has a picture of his mother under a piece of glass on the top. It appears to be made of backlight and looks to have been painted white. I was wondering how rare these are, how it was made and some idea of value. It is not for sale as my friend plans to keep it in the family.

I had one of those years ago, but the "lady" in the shift knob was not quite, should we say, "so demure".

That is the type I recall seeing for sale in the hardware automotive stores years ago. Pretty girl in a risque pose. Pretty tame by today's standards.

I have sold many knobs of different types over the years from butterscotch bakelite to swirl glass, etc. I have watched the market some. #1, it's a family picture, this may have some appeal to others however the real value is to your friend's family. #2, reread #1. #3 some condition issues. Value would be in the $20-$30 range unless someone really likes the look, topping at $40. Just my opinion. I love it and would keep it if I were your friend.
