Phaeton top saddle holes

In the meantime - while waiting for rubber duplicate of original plugs, a VERY easy interm solution is what I did : I just went to a plumbing supply shop (any well-stocked hardware store, too) and got the correct fitting metal plug, with 'snug tabs' (like your '29 hubcaps). I painted it the same color as my '28 Phaeton's body color, so that it blends right in.

A good thought indeed. I am waiting until the next time I am up at the Archives, then I am going to pull the blueprint and get the original dimensions where I can make a small run of them. I have found that 'reverse engineering' tends to create authentic issues so for my needs, I am going to get the print. Very well may use the services of the new 3D printer for making my pattern.

3D printer! But of course - that is a great way to go.
I'm an analogue dinosaur in a digital world.

It seems to me that I bought plugs like this from Sammy Guthrie (Arizona Model A, LLC) in 2003 or 2004 when I took off my '28 Phaeton's top saddles. I believe the plug fit something on a '30-31 pickup truck. The two plugs were just a hair undersized, but they haven't fallen out yet. Do you pickup truck guys know what rubber plug I am referring to?
