I have been driving Model A's for 45 years and yesterday I set a personal record. I put $43.44 worth of gas in my Roadster. Those $5 fill ups were the good old days.
Being retired and living on a fixed income, I limit gasoline purchases to $40 each, and no more than one per week. No more washing parts in gasoline. I am thinking about a wood chip burner I can tow and run my Model "A" with.
Pathetic.
A fill up of my '28 Model A over here costs ~85 $.![]()
It's about the same here in Australia. You guys needn't feel special - we are all in the same boat.
Yeah, but to be honest EVERYTHING seems to be expensive down under.![]()
$40 once a week is still over $2000 two thousand dollars a year!

Regular in the SF Bay Area this past Memorial Day weekend was around $6.399/gal at the big name stations, and $6.199/gal at the no-names. I filled up my pickup (2003 Tundra) around the first of the year and it was $105, which appalled my bride. Unfortunately, the next tank was closer to $125. Needless to say, I'm not driving it much these days. Even the Model A at 15 mpg is an improvement over the 11 mpg of the Tundra.I saw an article that said GA had some of the cheapest gas in the country. As much as it hurts me to fill up, I cant imagine what those of you in CA are dealing with.
