Penetrating Oil

I have an abundance of penetrating oil sitting on the shelves in my garage - it was a 'fringe' benefit from the outfit I use to work for.;) I'm wondering if it is OK to use this stuff on the leaf-springs of my cars to stop their moaning and groaning after several weeks of the cars sitting idle?

Corrosive components in it are intended to beak-down rust (Coke does too) so as noted by others here, although it will penetrate it is not intended to lubricate for any period of time. Otherwise, I've found it good at its intended purpose.

I have sliding windows and sliding door in my house. I have tried different lubes so that they slid better. What works better is Pledge. Wonder how it would work on those springs.

What does work and is used by lots of guys is Fifth Wheel Grease. That stuff is tenacious and waterproof.

best penetrant oil around is a 50 50 mix of Automatic Transmission Fluid and Thinner/Acetone. Just don't us it on anything that you have heated with a torch or a fresh run engine.
