PCV and road draft??

Just a quick question for you experts, I am building a 59a engine and will be using an intake that comes with a pcv and a breather. Do I need to run both the road draft set up through the oil pan and the pcv? Is it a good idea to run them both or do I only need the pcv?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find anythinf. Thanks guys.

Block off the draft tube, and use a good breather, as air (clean or dirty?) will be drawn into the engine.

The principle of a PCV system requires that fresh air has to be drawn into the engine via a vacuum source. i.e: the fresh air is drawn through the block and into the intake manifold where it it burnt up by the combustion process.
The intake air should be filtered, therefore, the fuel pump stand pipe is the best source for the intake air. The draft housing in the pan should be blocked off..
Use a PCV that is designed for an engine of equal CID to the 59AB engine, number of cylinders is not important..
The PCV is important to the system because the "valve" must snap closed under acceleration in order for there to be vacuum for the vacuum advance in the distributor..

Just fabricate a blockoffplate from some sheetmetal and fix it with gasket sealant to the pan if you want to go back some day.

I put a freeze plug in the stand pipe in the front end of the valley chamber. I thought oil would pool in the open pipe and promote leaks at the old draft opening. I am using a SBC PCV valve. I made the manifold opening fit the Chevy grommet. Works peferct.
