PB & J 31' Late Model Pickup Build

so in all the pictures i am seeing....i only see fender wells on the drivers side for the 31. MY fender is welled on the passenger side. i do have access to a set of fenders that are the other way around. might be in better shape than mine too. both need lots of work. i can post pics tomorrow of my options.

Commercial vehicles came rock moss green standard from the factory, but because they were commercials the customer could paint them any color they desired. The choices are open for you.

You have an early '30 eyebrow fender on your drivers side. If you have another correct 31 fender I suggest you swap that one out and put it in a safe place. They are much harder to find than the final production fenders, and therefore worth more. Since your truck looks like a late 31, with indented firewall and wide box, the correct fender will make the vehicle more valuable as well. Welled fenders were available for either side (or both sides, for that matter). You could put dual side mounts on it, which I have on my pickup, and I think they look purty darn neat.

You can mount the spare on the passenger side, just make sure the mounting arm wheel plate is for the left. You might have to drill the frame to do it. Also make sure the door check strap is short enough, so someone dose not open the door into the spare tire. Ed Saniewski

ok so here are my two fenders. the passenger side is in pretty rough shape and i might need a new splash apron. or it needs some MAJOR bending.

Here is the other set of fenders that i have access to. again i would need a splash apron for the passenger side, because these ones are pretty rough. also this passenger fender needs a bit of work as well.

these are also off of a 30 pickup. so i wouldn't be "correct" but im not worried about that. are they the same fenders? i don't see much difference. what are the suggestions to which ones i should run?

lamoson,

If you want to be technically correct, go with the drivers side welled fender.

Passenger side welled fender is an additional option. If you are going to replace the splash shields, I would use the one piece shield, since it would be the right ones for your 1931 indented firewall.

Here is a photo of my early 1931 Pick-up that I built from parts about 30 years ago.
