Parade tips?

Everything above plus make sure you have plenty of gas. I have had to push other cars too many times becasue they remembered everthing but gas.

If you have an open car where someone will be sitting up on the back of the seat be sure you have a thick piece of plywood protecting the upholstery. High heels can really do a number on upholstery (don't ask how I know).

Use an inverter or battery operated tape player with Charlie Chaplin music. I leave mine in first gear. Arrive very early and shut the car off so the car is not hot when the parade starts. Try to wear a period correct hat ! Throw candy to and not at the kids !

i have no problems in parades . i do however shut it off when waiting a long time . grap a pretty girl !

Some parades don't allow stuff thrown from the car.

Be very careful of the disease:PARADEITIS! Showing off, doing stunts, not watching what you are doing, colowning, weaving, playing chicken, leaving the car in motion, and many more.

WATCHOUT for kids darting across in front of you.

Bring extra water for your horse and you.

Lube your horn

Don't wave with your hand in front of your face. Wave like the royality waves.

Have too much fun

along with fire trucks, try to stay away from loud motorcycles if possible. it will get old quickly. Harleys and rice rockets can be equal opportunity offenders......

most parades I have been in give you an assigned marching order, so you are stuck with whatever they put ahead of you.....

Before moochin' a ride in your buddies Model A, ask him, "Are your balls round & are your wheel bearings tight?" Gotta' be SAFE! Bill W.

When waiting to move, put in neutral and release clutch ... Do not leave clutch depressed for long periods with engine running.

The pressure on flywheel wears out the rear main bearing thrust surfaces so crank can move backward and forward. Result is rear main leaks.

About motorcycles ... a popular thing they like to do is pull in clutch and race the engine while weaving around the street.

I wonder if they have thought about what happens if their clutch cable breaks with the engine at 6000 RPM and it launches them into the crowd? Some of the old HDs still have clutch cables!

I guess they just don't think much about safety!

I always clip 10 wooden laundry pins to the fuel line as heat sinks. Not much air moving under the hood at a walking pace. Probably should just get some heat wrap....

Are all Harley's always tuned RICH? Whenever I get behind one on I-95, I gag on the fumes. That and go deaf from the throbbing of the potato masher's low flow exhaust.

Roccaass,

My 2005 Dyna Super Glide HD runs lean, has a stock muffler, and is a joy to ride. I would be careful about general comments about ANY group.

Watch for kids! especially toddlers, as they will often slip free from a parent and wander into harms way.. Nearly had a heart attach when I had to hit the binders to stop in a parade once due to a wandering toddler.. Stopped about 4 inches away from her. Still bothers me when I think about it..

Have fun, run the horn often for the kids, adjust your idle down and creep along (occasinally put it in neutral and run the engine up for a few seconds. lubes the bearings and if having an anternator, wakes up the charging circuit)

Don't worry about being behind the horses, even if they are clydesdales, the A has surprisingly good ground clearance :)

Parade went good, truck ran good & smooth and Annie was a BIG hit. I lifted and shook her lf leg and made it looked as though she was waving at the crowds on her own, and they loved it
