Painting How To's

Everyone sprays differently. Too many variables to make a video that will show exactly how to do it. A video may give you a starting point, that's all. I have no issue with the videos.

All good information. I still like using the compressed air system but am always open to trying new things. I found the turbine system very good and I appreciate others haven't. I will still use my old system cause I like it and it does great job. I have friends who hate SATA guns and others who like them....i like them...have also really liked the lower end Devilbis Finish Line guns. I hear people on here using lacquer primer still...I wouldn't have it in the shop. So, there are no rtight or wrong answers....just like with most things.

I enjoy these posts...we all learn things. Brent, you are clearly a master of your trade and I have learned a lot from you. Going to have any more tech meetings like a few years ago??????

I have to say I get concerned when I see folks spraying using a non air supplied respirator. After recently beating the **** out of throat cancer with 35 straight days of radiation and horrifying chemo I cringe when I see that. It was a 2 year battle, I have never had a cigarette in my mouth. I am fine now...its all gone and very small chance it will come back thanks to the gruesome treatment. I did lose 70 lbs though due to a feeding tube in my abdomen...didnt have any food by mouth for 8 months. Most of the shops here use only air supplied systems. I apologize for the "sermon".....just don't want others going thru the hell I did.

Thanks to all for your posts. This is a wonderful forum!.

Petes Ponies....sorry I did not answer the question you asked. I have used many types of guns. I currently use higher end Devilibis Finish Line and SATA guns. I like them very much. While they use less material than non-HVLP guns, I have found that the turbine uses much less material. Also, I am not advocating anyone using the turbine system. I was just relating my experiences relative to the thread which asked about paint spraying. The turbine system has a learning curve higher than other systems in my opinion. I really like the primer gun setup...does a wonderful job with vitually no waste.

I do body work for fun...I am retired, I have always been a car guy to the extreme, and am always anxious to try new things and see what others are doing. I was raised in the car business. Its a great hobby!!!

Not selling turbines... :)

Curt, I preach wearing fresh air systems when spraying catalyzed paints too. Too many bad examples are seen on TV car programs. A canister respirator just doesn't filler isos.
As for the Finishline, whenever I'm asked which gun to buy, I usually suggest them as well. You have to be pretty experienced to see a difference in using a Finishline verses a SATA gun. I have two guns I use the most, well three really. I have a SATA knockoff that is my epoxy gun. But I spray most base and SS paints with my Walcom GEO . . nice gun. I use my real SATA for CC.

Kevin,

Thanks for posting, these tutorials demonstrate outstanding quality in equipment and technique-outstanding craftsmanship

I have shot Matrix along with just about every other brand on the market. I have had no trouble with any of them. Matrix is essentially a PPG knockoff and their toners can be dumped right into a PPG mixing bank. I have had good luck myself with Matrix. It is more cost effective than PPG could ever be. Remember that there is a 300% markup on automotive paint otherwise
