Paint removal from fabric

First, hello. I am new to this forum. I have already spent countless hours sitting behind my computer reading post after post on here. I am also a new first time Model A owner. (1929 3-Window Fordor Town Sedan)
So, greetings all.

The car I purchased had some over spray from the paint job get on the fabric near the dome light. I am under the assumption it has been on there for years. This is a long shot, I know, but is there any product that anyone knows about that will remove this off of the fabric?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I wouldn't use a liquid solvent of any kind for fear of smearing it around anf making a permanent stain. I would try something like masking tape to see if the adhesive will pull off the overspray from the fabric.

Here's another idea. It may be possible to abrade the paint by using something like a putty knife or a dull blade. Doing that may succeed in breaking the paint into small particles that may or may not cling to the fabric. Once you've done that, you could try to use a fabric pill shaver (do a Google search if your wife doesn't own one) that effectively shaves off pills from fabric. Such a shaver is inexpensive ~ $10.

I agree that using a solvent or other fluid would be unlikely to work and would risk staining the fabric and making your problem look worse.

Hey Sellerby, great idea, so I tried it with a little variation. I used a cheese slicer to scrape it. I used the dull part first then the sharp part to scrape it off. I then used my electric razor to get the rest. Didnt remove 100 percent but a good 90!

You may already be familiar with fabric paint, but if you aren't prepared to take on the task of redoing your interior fabric, and the fabric is in fairly decent shape, consider using fabric paint in a color close to what you want. Yes, I know, you just removed old paint! My interior fabric is gray and I was able to conceal some water stains by using gray fabric paint. It worked well and it is difficult to detect unless someone looks very closely.
