Paint options for driver

Hello, in the 1960,s and 70,s a lot of Model As were painted with PPG Ditzler lacquer, because there was a book available with paint chips and formulas also had color schemes.Still have mine somewhere, but as mentioned paint chemistry has changed throughout the years. Lacquer was popular, easy to use but did need wet sanding and buffing also couldn’t be used over enamel as it would lift.

Here it is. Although this booklet dates to the 1960's, much of the information is still valid, such as surface preparation and spraying techniques. But paint technology has changed since then and the availability of some types no longer exists. Still, this is a good booklet for beginning painters. Some interesting paint names and formulae are contained in these pages, as well as many SMALL paint chips. It's out of print, so I imagine it's a bit of a collector's item these days.

Did Scheib use water based paint? It seems to wash away in the rain.

I just bought some normally expensive paint on eBay at about 1/4 the normal price. The catalyst went in the freezer to preserve it. I had to buy the quart size.

Where is Earl Sheib when you need him?
I'll ruin any car in any color for only $29.95.
I bought a $50 Toyota to flip. It had the hood a front fender and door replaced.
The paint jobs were $99.99 by that time. They did the typical lousy job. They said if I wasn't happy they'd repaint it - but they could only do 1/2 at a time on warranty. I did sell it for $300 so it worked out.
