Paint for the a chassis?

I'm using "Chassis Saver" from Magnet Paint in Brooklyn, NY. This stuff is incredible!
I'm told it's very similiar to POR 15. It's a paint/coating that can be brushed on or sprayed. It's made for large truck and equiptment chassis. I've hit finished pieces with the sandblaster and it only dulled the finish.
You have to be careful about getting any paint in the top rim channel of the can or you will not get the top off again. Downside is that will fade to a different color, so shoot it with a topcoat. Cost is around $110 a gallon. Google Magnetpaint

Having been a painter for over 50 years, I've had the opportunity to use all kinds of paints and test them. The biggest problem with Powder Coating is that it the surface of the finished powder coating ever gets chipped or cracked, (it is brittle) moisture will get in back of it and will spread. Then large chucks will eventually fall off the surface.

There is another [aint on the market called KBS Coatings. It comes in several colors and it as hard and flexible as POR-15 but is less expensive. IT'S HARD TO EVEN SCRATCH. Great stuff.....I will not use Powder Coating on anything. This is just my opinion, (NOT B.S.)

Hi Bob. Just to confirm what you have said. I got the name "Magnet paints" from a friend who has been painting cars and trucks since the sixties. Me? I know nothing but what he tells me and what I read here.
We were talking about paints and related stuff when I asked him about powder coating. His response was similiar to yours, "Don't do it!" and for the same reasons. The moisture getting under the coating and rusting away the strength of the metal while the surface looks perfectly fine. I didn't expect this response. I thought I was going to hear how great powder coating was. I'm glad I couldn't afford it now.

I am very impressed with the "Chassis Saver" from Magnet Paints. The frame horns on my Western Ultra Mount were rusted. I cleaned them up and applied the Chassis Saver and one coat of rattle can paint. I ran them all winter in Northern Michigan for an intense salt spray test. They are in very good shape and if I would have put it on in warmer weather they would be in perfect shape excluding where the plow frame and horns hit while mounting the plow.

What I like about this product is ease of use and it is available at our local auto parts stores. I would suggest going to Magnet Paints web site so you can purchase the proper supplies and reducer. Don't forget the rubber gloves.
