I have a 1930 Model A town sedan and i am having a hard time trying to figure out what color it originally is supposed to be. Is there any way to figure that out and does the color of the interior upholstery have anything to do with what color the exterior is supposed to be?

There is not any correlation between the trim color and the exterior color scheme. The only chance you have is to find some original color hidden behind a panel that might give a clue to your car's original color.

my upholstery is white, if that has anything to do with it

As Brent said, no correlation. It sounds like your interior has been changed. It would have been much like the original shown below or the same with a greenish hue.

i will have to post some pics and you can let me know what you think, i guess its a possibility it was tan it just kinda hard to tell because it is all water stained from sitting so long

My original colors keep appearing in the darndest places and always under another color(s) Frinstance, I'm now getting the original apple green pinstripping off the gastank under black and orange. Doing the window reveals showed me the original elkpoint green.
Another thing to remember. Town Sedans only came in about 4 or 5 color combinations. Kuwanee green with elkpoint green, black and Ford Maroon, Copra brown chicle brown, Black and Andalusia blue I believe were the only original colors available.

I found original black under the data plate on the firewall. I replaced it with a reproduction tag as someone painted over the original with Lombard blue.

Ebreach,
In your post you said "what color it originally is supposed to be". Did you mean: 1) Which color combination was it painted when it came off the assembly line, or 2) What were the color combinations available for the '30 Town Sedan.

If your looking for #1, then the above posts have good places for you to check.
If you are lloking for #2, The MAFCA book "Model A Ford Paint & Finish Guide" has tons of painting info. Here is a list from the book.
Lower/reveals Upper Pinstripe
Copra Drab Chicle Drab Straw
Chicle Drab Copra Dra Straw
Kewanee Green Elkpointe Green Apple Green
Ford Maroon Black Vermilion
Black Black Vermilion or Apple Green
Brewster Green Black Apple Green

If you Google "Model A Ford paint codes" I think one of the hits will be "Goldcoastmodela", they have a list of codes. If you are NOT building a "Points Car" then these colors should be as close as you are going to get with todays modern paints.

Check LaBarron Bonney (sp), they will send you a sample set of the fabrics for your year and model.
