Paint color in my Phaeton

I put this thread 2 weeks ago and nobody answered me, now I try again.
I´m restoring a 1929 Phaeton, I have a question about paint color.
I read in "The model A Ford as Henry Built" book, an article where it said that you can interchange the body color with the belt color paint.
Do you know if this fulfills the rules of Judging Standards commite?. For example in a 1929 phaeton could you paint body with Valley Green an belt with Balsam Green?. Thanks for your help

This is from the standards. I don't see anything about reversing the colors.

i suggest you also get a copy of the Judging standards they are really great when restoring any vehicle, you can get them right off any of the club sites. Good Luck

Dear Mark
I´ve the Judging standards manual and I read about the paint colors for my phaeton, The question is about the possibility to intherchange the belt and body colors as it said in the "The model A Ford as Henry Built" book section5 - 28/29 Phaeton : " With the Phaeton, the customer had the added option of switching the body color with that of the belt moulding "

According to how I read the "Judging Standards" book, the following could be reversed:
-1928-Dawn Gray Dark & Gunmetal Blue.
-1929-Nothing.
-1930(Standard)-Copra Drab & Chicle Drab.
(Deluxe)---Nothing.
-1931(Standard)-Nothing.
-1931(Deluxe)---Nothing.

verrece,

You could be correct, after rereading your post, IF the South American cars had
a different paint style vs. North America. I don't know. Please, re post your question
something like " South American Phaeton paint ", that mite help, good luck.

A 1929 Phaeton, made and painted in the US, did not have the option to switch the colors as per the standards. If you were to change the colors acording to the book you would lose points.

It is your car so you can paint it as you wish, it would just not be correct for the judges.

Verresce, my Victoria originally came from Argentina. It's original colour was Washington Blue, with Tacoma cream stripe. This colour combination is not listed in the Judging Standards. I would suggest that Argentina, Like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand probably had their own colour schemes. If there is a combination you like in the Model A colour charts then go for it! Unless of course you are planning on entering blue ribbon in U.S. competiion.
