I need touch up paint for my original tan colored hood for my 1930 Model A Station Wagon. Everyplace I look only sells quarts any ideas?? thanks

I have about 1/2 quart of Manila brown left over from painting the hood of my car. I will not match the color of the paint on your car you can be sure of that.

A couple of years ago I needed to touch up some Bronson Yellow paint on another car. I bought one of those Testor's paint assortments at a hobby shop. Some of the big box stores also sell them. I just experimented and eventually mixed up the right color to match the Bronson Yellow. I'd try something like that.

If you go to a good auto paint shop, they should have a device that I think is called a color computer, they can take a reading from your car, and then mix up paint to match. I got perfect touchup paint for my phaeton from a local auto paint supplier that way. They take the device, put it next to any flat area on the car, pull the trigger, and it records the color so that their computer can do a perfect match.

It is called Phrophet from PPG but they all have them and it does not always give you a "perfect match" but it will get you close most of the time.

when I did that with my station wagon, Prophet brought up a file saying it had matched the color to "Ford, 1928-1936...Manilla Brown". The file had the exact original formula, which matches the paint on my car pretty well. A very good eye can see the difference, but it takes very careful scrutiny. I'm pleased with the results. They mixed me a half pint can for touch ups.
