I you could only do one, which would it be?

Fix up old cars but never keep it when it was done.....

Own old cars but never work on it....

Is it the fixing or the owning and driving that makes the hobby for you? I know you want to say both, but not an option.

I used to own a Mustang restoration shop. So I was always fixing someone else's baby and then watching it drive away. Best part about it was there was always a new one coming in behind it! Even with my own cars I would get them all fixed up and then sell it, my wife at first couldn't understand why I could let it go. For me it was more fun to hunt for them and make them right, than it was to keep and own it.

I would have to pick #2 I have worked on cars all my life and do most all of my work on my cars, but my real passion is driving them. I could not live without the ownership and ability to drive them.

Where is the option? "I would rather fix them and keep them"?

When you put your heart and soul into a car, most of us want to keep it forever. Yea, there are guys who fix'em up and sell them but that's a money making proposition. Some may trade cars but that's about getting what you want to drive.

Shame on me. I picked number 1 before I read the post. My enjoyment is working/building and keeping.

Poll:
Which would you rather have:

1. A gorgeous wife that never gives you any.
2. A homely wife that can't get enough.

How do these conversations get started anyway?

i did not pick one, i like to do both. yesterday, i washed and waxed my pickup also i filled it with gas, it shure is running good!

Yep, I need more options to vote this poll. I like looking for them, buying them, owning them, working on them and most of all driving them :) ..... and we are talking about golf balls here aren't we :p;):D

My son says I fall in love with my old cars and don't want to part with them. Maybe he is right, but I sure wish I had some back that I let go!

i can't let mine go...i fix'er up to what she is . and if it did probably would not understand what it took to make her where or what she does today . i guess that would make me fix and keep type. i only have one.. my wife said it keeps me out of trouble and she said she knows where to find me by the feet sticking out from under my car. :D

Exactly!
I was thinking it is like would you rather be married or have sex.

If you pick one or the other then you have not had the thrill of driving what you built. It is where the real value comes in when you have more money into restoring a car than what it is worth. The thrill of putting an engine together and taking a 1700 mile trip with no problems is priceless. And if you do have a problem there will be a long remembered associated story.

My answer would fit neither of your poll answers. I would rather own them but not necessarily drive them. If I could, I would be a hoarder. To me they are like toys. I like to collect them and look at them. Even if no one else ever sees them.

caring is sharing ....remember that from pre k? so if you keep them to yourself how can anybody else enjoy the eye candy you have or they wish to have? i love to show mine it not perfect but still turns heads.

I could not choose either option. I like working on my truck, as any other old car or truck I've had. I wish I still had them all. I'd have one of everything I like. That would be one huge building full of stuff! I always have told my wife.... A small comfortable house with a huge building out back for my toys.

My sign off is "Don't never get rid of nuthin.'" And, I don't get to drive my one old car on the road as it is, so, I can't vote. (By not getting rid of stuff is how I got to have what I have today!)

I agree with Frank Miller completely. I want to fix/restore/modify and drive. I want the experience of going somewhere far in the car I built, problems or no
