Overhead insulation

 Getting ready to put in my headliner pretty soon, Has anyone got any suggestions as what type glue to use for glueing insulation to the roof. I have used several types lately and "contact cement" is the only one I've had any luck with. I hate to think about doing all this and then the insulation come loose. I also have some of what I call "bubble pack" with the foil on both sides but I'm thinkin' its too thick. Any suggestion as to what to use for the insulation. Thanks a bunch.

I used the bubble pack foil insulation and glued it on with contact cement and it's been there for 5 years without any problem.

I used 3M #90 , (green can ). I liked the adjustable nozzle, good spray with minimal overspray and good tack. A little short on work time, about 10 minutes but easy to reapply (I live where it is hot all the time.) I put it on the insulation and on the surface and it held well. Cover dash and interior for possible overspray.
I used a jute material, not really thick but the bows push up on what you use so I see no reason not to use the bubble foil. I thought I would get more sound deadening with the jute.
Watch for any gaps at the quarter windows and at the A pillar. Use original type padding Usuall puffy cotton type, above quarter windows and at rear window, (mine was missing). You may need some foam, about 1/2" thick to apply in smaller areas. I observed gaps at the quarter window forward toward the door (example by the interior lamp, both sides) on a finished car before I did mine. I got a little gap at the top of A pillars by the visor to windshield, not bad but if I had thought to put foam it would have been a little nicer.
I agree that contact cement (Welwood) is good. But large areas need a spray.
sorry if TMI

thanks guys, I feel more comfortable with bubble pack now. Guess I'll go with the contact cement since I have two cans of it already.

I used some stuff with bubbles from Home Depot or Lowes and it made strange quiet crackling sounds when rain would hit the hot roof. Replaced it with synthetic jute when I did the headliner again. Ken

I used Dyna-Mat first, then the bubble pac stuff from Home Depot in my 41 pickup. Headliner, in the doors, floorboard and the cab. Nice and quiet.

I just brushed the contact cement on with a brush. Worked fine.

I used Armaflex - it comes in either 1/2" or 3/4" thickness and is available in sheets at HVAC supply houses. No need to glue above headliner - I just laid it in on top of headliner from LeBaron-Bonney. Also used the Armaflex behind kick panels and door panels, etc. Insulates and sound deadens. Bruno
