I pick up an Borge-Warner OD today for my car. I am excited to put it in my car. I saw it on the MAFCA site. Had to make a 500 mile trip to get it but it was FREE. I know it is old school but I do not have the money for a new OD. I sure this will improve my driving on the Highway.

Without doing a Google search, can someone explain how the BW OD works? My grandpa had an OD on a 60s or 70s Ford Pickup, I recall a handle on the dash with a cable, and constant being told not to touch it.

would this option be available in the '30s, or is this a more recent innovation (like the Mitchell unit).
thanks

Borg-Warner O/D is most likely from the 50/60's. See Tom Endy's article.
I've heard of Volvo overdrives being used on old cars, anyone have information on them?
