Off topic for Ford barn but can anyone remember the Oldsmobiles for the WWII veterans. Thought they were called Victory models. Just asking.

In this 1946 GM photo, Mobile Oldsmobile is delivering new cars to WWII vets as part of Oldsmobile's "Valiant Program". In this program, disabled veterans could purchase an Oldsmobile equipped with an automatic transmission and a complete set of hand controls at very low cost. More than 30,000 "Valiant" Oldsmobiles were sold to veterans in the years following WWII.

5158a... I have never heard of this. Plan to look into it a bit. I like the theme of it. Taking care of those who gave a lot.

I have Ford literature for the 1946 Fords that shows the modifications for returning veterans who are amputees.

Thank you very much, I knew they were out there, just couldn't think of the name. The modified Fords does sound interesting.

I remember when I was about eight, a man drove into our driveway. He had a car that looked like an Olds. It had hand controls. It turned out my dad who was a toolmaker had built them. The car owner was a polio victim with little use of his legs. I have to surmise it was a Hydramatic Olds.
