OT, No Spark Control

Old iron, nothing like it. My uncle had a 1920 Waterloo Boy. Not steam powered but really cool none the less. 25 HP at the belt drum ad 12 HP at the draw-bar. I really loved that old tractor.

When I was a young lad in southwestern KS, there was a local threshing bee where a local guy brought in his Case traction engine and operated a threshing machine to do a load of wheat off a small plot of ground. The wheat was cut by a horse drawn binder and then shocked several days before hand. On threshing day the shocks were gathered on a large horse drawn wagon and the brought in to the thresher, A model TT truck was used to catch and deliver the wheat to the local elevator.

My Great Grandfather made a good living by providing threshing services to the local area farmers. He used the Frick Eclipse traction engines and McCormick-Deering threshers. He learned that trade growing up in Missouri, working with family including Cousins and Uncles doing threshing work and running a saw mill. Great Grandfather and his family moved out to western Kansas to take advantage of the last of the Homestead act. They did very well in that endeavor, even after living in a sod house till the cash flow got going well.
