original style points?

I've got two sets of points I bought 12 years ago from a parts house. Both sets when installed have the same problem, the contacts don't match together perfectly to make a full contact. What I mean is when they are closed they are off-set. If I buy Echlin CS30 points will this still happen? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Ron

Yes I have and it is still about 15% off from lining up properly. I'm I worrying too much? I realize I can file them to mate correctly, but wondering about 100% contact surface. Thanks Ron

Did you know the stationary point is adjustable?

Just loosen the the 2 screws on the bottom of the plate holding the stationary point.

Yes I realize you can adjust them, but I still can't get 100% contact. Just wondering if I buy a better quality product would they fit better. Not trying to save money just trying to figure out what to buy, or I'm I worrying too much ? Thanks Ron

I would not worry too much about some minor misalignment. I would be more concerned about the quality. There has been a lot of very poor quality electrical components made in the recent past. I think I would be more happy with echlen or standard but not anything made in China or some of the other off shore countries.

Just my opinion, CW

Ron, yes I think you are worrying to much. Both of my A's and the extra distributors do not fit 100%. I may be wrong, I am no expert on these things.

If the contacts are still not flat you can also bend the movable arm slightly with a point alignment tool
