Original Radiator Shell

I replaced my original radiator shell with a chrome repro in my very early young and dumb Model A days. Since my car has very old paint on it, I've grown tired of the new shiny chrome look. I want to use the original shell which has the majority of the original nickel gone. I want a finish between the current nickel-less finish and the repro chrome. I am looking for a flat to satin look to match the look of the car. Any suggestions. I am assuming my first step is to start working smooth the old shell. I am looking for any advise on how I should proceed. Thanks

For advice and possibly a source of nickel plating and finishing - perhaps contact Dan Bixby whose eBay moniker is phonconn. He has an eBay shop and gets items like instrument panels and gear shift levers replated.

I'm in England so I don't know what is local to you.
