Original or not ?

I probably have the most fun with this one. I mostly drive it on trails here on our estate. I got this one in the spring of 1960 and it still has the same original engine with the original babbitt. The main and rod caps have been sanded down a few times to maintain a .002 clearance. The same split skirt, std. size pistons are still running in it but I installed piston expanders the last time that I reringed it. The engine is stock except for the Simmons carburetor and it doesn't leak a drop of oil. I run the condenser on the firewall, connected to the coil. An older guy showed me the condenser trick in the early sixties. Back then we didn't worry about whether it was perfect original and I still don't, its mostly about enjoying the model A.xxx

Mine was kinda restored back in the 60s or 70s it looks like.Don't know for sure because the owner died and the widow doesn't know. I was actually looking for a roadster pickup to make a hot rod out of but this one is so original and solid that I passed on it. Several months later I looked at it and couldn't resist. I can make a hot rod out of something else, this one survived 83 years without getting cut up so I will be darned if I am going to be the one to do it. I decided to buy it to keep anyone else from hot rodding it.

My cars are restored to original or unrestored with the exception of hi-comp heads.

I run original popout switches, original style points & condenser, generator and 6V electrical. Even tho I don't show my cars in fine point judging I like to have them as close to original as I can get(within reason) and still not be afraid to drive them on a normal basis.

My 30 Standard Roadster is original. Body off restoration and repaint in 1965, and LeBarron Bonney reupholstered the original seat springs, and made the top for the original roof bows. The only thing not original is a windshield wiper blade and arm, floor boards, packless water pump, replaced splash guards and I have tried an FS distributor for touring. Next thing I will have to change is replacing the bumpers, probably with stainless, but I will keep the originals for who knows what, and one of Tom's regulators on the generator.
