What is the size wrench needed to remove original model A spark plugs.
Ford issued wrenches. Some have hex on one end and open wrench on other. Is the hex or open size used to remove the spark plugs.....? I would guess open????

Got mine from Sears hardware:

All model A's left the factory with Champion 3X spark plugs that used a 1- 1/8" wrench. The Ford supplied wrench had a large 1-1/8" open end that fit the spark plug, the small 11/16" box end fit the head nuts and was used to keep the head tight.
A 1-1/8" deep socked works on 3X spark plugs.

Some modern plugs use different size wrenches.

Great picture! Thanks for taking the time to help! Greatly appreciated.
The wrench I have is for model B 4 cylinder engine. The size wrench I have is the same as the one you mentioned.

I always use box wrenches for Model A plugs, 3X or any other size. Less danger of busting the porcelain or hickying the hex corners, at least to me.
