Can someone please tell me if this is an original color on my 1928 A?
Thanks
Yeah kinda. (Monitor & Camera lighting might have it skewed at tad too.) Look at Bonnie Gray & Chelsie Blue in the Paint & Refinish Guide chips.
That's the closest I've seen yet. The car was "restored" in the '80s or '90s, so this is not original paint. Someone told me once that paint matches on a lot of the early Ford colors have been kind of hit or miss (more likely miss) relative to the true original colors. Is that a correct assessment?
Agree. The Copra and Chicle seem to have two trends - towards tan-ish and towards gray-ish. The Ford Maroon, from what I understand, is almost a brown in proper execution, but I've seen a lot of "Ford Maroon" that has more of a red blush. I'm in a fairly large club with a few iterations of the Ford Maroon, and for my car I think I'm just going to pick the one that I (and more importantly, my bride) like best and see if I can get it color-matched.Yeah probably.
While that combination is definitely somewhat hit or miss at times, ...I tend to feel the two bigger 'misses' is the miss-tints of Copra & Chicle colors, and Ford Maroon colors. Nothing kills the value of a Model-A more than incorrect paint colors. Ironically, it basically costs the same amount to paint it correctly as it does to paint it incorrectly.![]()
And I've seen quite a few iterations of Elkpoint and Kewanee Green.

After spending the last couple days looking at A pictures, I think I will probably end up driving to the paint store and having them match it.
I started this thread hoping I could just order the "correct color" so that I could do the touch up while the car is still sitting in my friends nice heated shop. May have to wait til nice weather, I guess.
