Original Closed Car Door Insulation

Hello all

I am working on a 31 Tudor mild hot rod, and I would like to omit the interior panels - Leaving the wood, and everything else exposed. On the doors, remnants of some sort of original tar insulation are visible. I would like to strip this and reapply something that is effective and visually similar. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Roofing patch (can't remember the brand name)available at most hardware stores. You're in for about an hours work with a heat gun and putty knife. Why not just add to what is there?

Wet / Dry roof cement is the name of the product. Everyone around hear calls is roofing bull. I think thats short for, well you know.
