Had a couple 36's when I was a teenager & the grilles were both of the stamped from one sheet type . In the " Early Ford V-8 - as Henry built it " on Page 126 there is a factory photo of workers deburring 36 grilles . Repops then were a whole pile of parts spot welded together . Clueless as to the present status of repops but the two cars I had in the late 60's definately had stamped grilles .
the best way is around the crank hole brace which on a repo is normally spot welded on,orig ford has the two bars next to the center are actually attached to the crank hole webbing.
You need to check the 35-36 Ford book by the Early V8 Club. Seems there were 3 different versions of the 36 grille IF I remember correctly. The stamped from one piece version is probably the best and is the one most likely used for chroming.
Another KEY way to tell repos from originals is that the originals FIT!!
I agree, looks like an original with outer shell and individual bars. How would you like to be the guy at the Ford factory in charge of welding all the grill bars?!
