Orig trans swap to sync trans.

I have heard of a kit to replace Model A non sync trans with late model Ford pickup trans. Any one know the tricks . Thanks Russtford. Okky

There are at least 3 guys that build kits that will accomplish this. Do a search on F150 transmissions and it will take you a couple of days to read all the threads / posts! :D

I have one in my 31 pickup and really like it. It not only adds synchromesh to all gears, but adds a 4th gear which is overdrive.

I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts.

Mitchell makes a synchro transmission in the stock A transmission case. Fits right in with no modifications needed. Works really nice. They are sold by Brattons. They other kits will require you to chock up some stuff.

Don't know what you mean by "chock up some stuff", but the F150 kit I got was a completely bolt in kit, no cutting or drilling of any kind. (It used the AA Bellhousing and included all the brackets necessary for the pedals and e-brake.)

I have the kit built by "Miss Victoria" -- see post # 8 below.

I had to cut a small section of the cross member for my four speed, but I didn't really care. It can be done nicely and nobody would know the difference, besides- once you have it in there you'll never take it out. And when was the last time anyone crawled under your car to check out the crossmember.

If you use a AA bell housing you don't have to chop up anything, but then you have to find a different way to mount your petals.

There has been several posts lately on the early v8 side about changing to a t5 five speed. Also some links listed, try looking there. Dave C
