Order of assembly question

Just got the body back on my wife's early 31 town sedan. Most of the wood in the car is very good but the wood in the very back and roof has to be replaced. My question is would you recommend I replace the wood before or after paint? There seams to be benefits to doing it both ways.

Arlen, I'm doing this right now on my 30 Briggs T.S. I'm using a Classic Wood (N.C.) top wood kit. I don't how much wood or just what pieces you're replacing, but you should know that there are some pieces that you and I might consider top wood that Classic Wood considers body wood.
The farthest back, top piece over the rear window, for instance The two shorter rear, side pieces, over the quarter windows, for another. Be sure to add these pieces to you order, or if your handy as I am, make the pieces yourself. Also, You might notice that many of the screws are drilled and countersunk for entry from the exterior. Originally, the bodies were pulled on to the wooden frame, which was pre-assembled. So we are presented with pieces that were originally screwed from the outside and now there no way to do that without total disassembly. I put mine together as a sub assembly and then screwing it in from the bottom. Oh, And answering your original question, I'd have all the wood work done before I painted it. Good Luck!
