Optima red top 6 volt battery

There should be a sticker attached to the top or on the side. Every Optima I have ever bought had the sticker.

There should be a date code of some sort, otherwise how would they be able to honor their warranty?

I have never ever seen a date sticker on the top of an OPTIMA battery and I have handled hundreds of them over the years. However there is a small date stamp in the end of the grey plastic case. It shows the last numbers of the year and the number of the day. eg 195 out of 365 that the battery was manufactured (not sold). I have not looked at recent Optimas since I retired. This secret was told to me by the original importer/dealer in Australia who has now passed. RIP Graham. Regards, Kevin.

This thread piqued my interest, so when I went to my shop today, I spent about 10 minutes going over an Optima I bought about 20 years ago (it still tests good, but I replaced it about 8 years ago). I used my "cheaters" and a high intensity light, and I would bet my life there were no codes stamped anywhere on it. It had three stickers, a stamped logo under the edge, but I saw nothing that remotely resembled a date code (and in my other life, I'm a "Corvette Guy").
