One-ton orphan

I was in an auto repair shop today and I noticed the (’25-’26?) one-ton Model T in a back room. The owner told me that a very good commercial customer had brought the truck to him almost two years ago and asked him to put in good condition. The shop owner did a lot of work on the truck, trying to keep it as original as possible. The head had a ten-inch crack in it so he replaced it with an aluminum one. When he finished the job he expected the truck’s owner to pick it up. But, two years later, the owner has paid for the work, but he still hasn’t come by to get his exquisite truck. The shop owner said the fact that the truck hasn’t been picked up doesn’t bother him at all. He also said if the truck’s owner loses interest, he will be first in line to buy it. I asked him to put me second in line.

If I was the shop owner I would have started charging storage fees about 2 months after the work was done, irregardless if it had been payed for or not. The owner is using him for cheep storage. But to each their own.

I would take it out of the shop on the premise of keeping it in good running order and use it as advertising. "We repair most makes and models".
