One more mystery

Fellow Barners,
My '31 40B has these two plugs that are an inch in and up from the lower corners below the rumble lid. Any ideas as to what hides beneath them and what are they for?
I'm reluctant to just pry them off to see and the pan on the inside hides them from view. I think that they cover captured nuts for something.
I was visiting with "Uncle" Bill and Buster T yesterday (that's another story) over in Fresno. One of them suggested that I search for the cover thingie that went over the rumble seat compartment. I did that and found TUXAWAY pictures but they seem to be attached to the lid and not down low where these plugs are.
I surely will appreciated your thoughts.
Russ

OK folks,
Just got in from the garage and crawling under. It appears that what I have is a hole that has been plugged with a round headed bolt and held in plce with a nut/washer/nut on the underside, not a captured nut. A previous owner must have added something and after removing whatever just filled the holes with round head bolts. Any guesses as to what may have been there?
I wonder what other mysteries remain. Russ
