One answer and one new question

My previors question "why my new 12 volt coil " required a resistor I think is answered by the manufacturing company assuming it will also be negative ground. The primary and secondary coils are then joined at the negative terminal as opposed to the positive terminal. There does notappear to be any other difference in the coils.
The real head scratcher is the steering column angle.
This is supposed to be a 1931 Std Roadster. Some previous owner had moved the pittman down below the frame to make the column fit the steering bracket on the gas tank.
When I was restoring it I moved all parts to there correst place.
Now the column misses the support by 2 " and a new dash mounted bracket has the same problem. I can always shim it up but I fear the steering wheel will end up in my lap.
Also the gas tank looks sort of like a 1929 in that a round speedo type instrument panel wont quite fit the dash.
I have tried other steering gear box mounting brackets but they all look the same.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this problem.
Thanks

You need a resistor for the coil to lower the current flowing through the primary.

I assume you are in Texas until the snow melts back in Stewartville. If the car is back here in MN then someone from the Lady Slipper's in Rochester can look at your Model A to see what's going on. It sounds like you have a gas tank for mid 30 or earlier, and with the 29 steering wheel you may have a 1929 car. I don't recall details from your earlier post as to the year, etc.

Trying to remember whether the post was here or on the EV8 forum about the mounting holes for the steering box assy in the frame. Are they not supposed to be slotted?, for adjustment purposes. Fellow who posted had filled them in because he thought they had worn that way and then found he had alignment problems and ended up filing them slotted.

I would like to persue your thought on the frame holes being slotted. Mine are not. Is there any way to determine the correct angle they should be at.
I have used the proper size bolts so there is no slop in the holes.
Thanks fof the new idea.
