Its blowing a storm here , heavy rain, gale force winds, snow , not much chance of seeing the sun , but think it was yesturday here, Power keeps going out. Trust its ok in CA in 1.5 days. We are out of here, if the plane can fly.

Snow here. 2' deep. Can't see a thing. Ill just wait for the next time around.

Overcast here in the Walla Walla Valley of Southeastern Washington State...Bummer...But ok with .85 inches of rain. Sure perked the crops up but kind of hard on the GENUINE Walla Walla Sweet Onions!

Guess I will have to wait till 2114...OH...maybe not!

Missed it. But I've been thinking about "King of Pain," the old Police song: "There's a little black spot on the sun today..."

Thank you for sharing.

Had no way to see it in the middle of this rainy-night ...

Will have a look next time FOR SURE

Its funny i just went to take some pictures of how i did this and another son came by and asked the exact same question
for the solar eclipse i used a #9 welding class and it was too bright
so for this transit i looked for a #14 lens but didnt have one
I tried two #9 lenses but i couldnt see the sun
so deep in my stash of lenses i found a #5 and #11 and when i sandwiched them together it was perfect
i used a large piece of cardboard and cut a hole in it to match the lenses
then taped tinfoil over the hole and cut a more precise hole
then taped the lenses over the hole making sure it was secure and no sunlight got by the lens
total cost was zero, as i had all the stuff on hand
then it was simply hold the camera up tp the lens so i didnt get back glare and zoom in ,I never dreamed i could photograph tiny little venus going across the sun
the cardboard made it Great because you didnt get any sun glare as you would simply using the lens
i was also able to see it better with my 70X binocular
i blocked off one lens and used the other to focus
my son and his son were also able to see this event

i believe it will be my grandsons ggg grand children who will next see this event

Back in 2004 I took this first picture using a telescope projecting onto white card. The weather was set fair and I was prepared at 06:00 with equipment already setup and was pleased with the result.
The second picture is todays transit. I did not think the weather would show the sun, and that I would not be awake at 05:00 I was not prepared. The sun did shine, and was awake. I was surprised that I got as much as a result as I did using a magnifying glass onto the bedroom door. My wife briefly woke up, wondered why I was taking photos of the bedroom door at five in the morning, clearly thought she was dreaming and disbelievingly went back to sleep.....
