Old repairs under bondo

I saw one of the worst welding jobs i've ever seen the other day on a 29 PU. The bead was about two inches thick and you could tell that they used the wrong heat range by the globs of meteal in the bead and went all the way across the top of the fender. I haven't done any welding in years and I think I could have done much better that that.

Here's what I found under the Old Filler. Brazing, Brazing, Brazing and how I fixed it.

I couldn't tell you how much brazing rod I've ground through getting to the problems on my buddy's 31 pickup. Can we say it was obvious that a plummer owned the car.

Years and years ago there was a lot of brazing going on, and can't tell you how many clothes hangers I've used doing other things.

Brazing was a common and accepted method of repair not that many years ago. Materials and methods change over the years. I don't have to like what I find, just deal with it as I find it. None of this stuff is new anymore so all manner of repairs can and have been found. Not everyone has professional level skills and equipment to work with so they do what they can with what they have.
