Old mallory distributor for an 8BA

I'm currently running a stock flattie 8 w/ the 6 volt system and will be moving up to a 2x2 carb setup. I've been reading up about the weaker vacuum issue due to the additional carb. I've seen Chevy distributors modified with dual points and centrifugal advance for the flathead. I've also seen a petronix electronic assembly unit available for the stock flathead distributor, but it retains the vacuum advance.

I've acquired an old 50's-60's mallory dual point distributor w/ centrifugal advance for next to noth'n and was wondering...has anybody installed a petronix electronic ignition into a older mallory unit while retaining the 6 volt system...succesfully?

Just trying to keep the "old school look" as much as possible but improve reliability.

Talk to Bubba, he's got it all figured out. Do a search on distributors, I am thinking of picking up one of those for my 52 Merc motor as well.

I posted on the hamb board as well.....

You had my attention UNTIL you mentioned 6 volts. Pertronix does make some 6 volt units but from my experience they havent been very reliable.
I like the others would use the Mallory as is and just run it.
I would be very happy to set it up on the machine for you. We charge $48 for set up and curve for your engine. Shipping is free to hamb dudes...... You had my attention UNTIL you mentioned 6 volts. Pertronix does make some 6 volt units but from my experience they havent been very reliable.
